Meet Shae.

Shae’s work has a wonderful way of pulling you past the surface and into something a little more fantastical. There’s often a real sense of depth in her submissions, whether she’s building a creative composite, playing with double exposure, or getting in close with some truly striking macro work. Shae clearly isn’t afraid to experiment, but what makes her photos stand out is how clean and polished they still feel. There’s always something interesting to discover, and many of her frames make you come back for a second look. This week marks Shae Fazzolari’s 197th frame in the project!

Your life in 30 words or less

I have a fantastic husband, 2 great kids and their future spouses, and an amazing dog! Obsessed with Photography, love nature, wine, books, did I say photography!?

Can you share 2 images, one from your past, and one more recent, that show your evolution as a photographer?

What has been your favorite style of shooting lately?

I’m not sure that I have a favorite style, but I really enjoy photographing bits of nature past their prime (AKA lovely dead crap!) I never would have noticed such beauty without photography. I often come home from walks with dead flowers, grasses, dandelion puffs, to which my husband says “You are SO weird!”, I maintain they are treasures! In scrolling through my submissions I see I have a fairly even split of black and white,/earthy tones in my photos and then the complete opposite with colorful and vibrant photos. I guess I’m an equal opportunity photographer !

What submission are you most proud of and why?

This is the first photo where I dug really deep, and shared something incredibly personal through photography. I really hesitated to submit this. I did not want to offend or alienate anyone. I do feel like I was able to respectfully and yet genuinely share my story with this photo.

One tip you’d like to share?

Join a mini group and a local FB framers group! AND be an active participant. Find 52f photographers that you not only enjoy their work, but also their stories. Follow, comment and learn from them. 52F is , or can be, about the relationships we build, as well as the photography we create.

Why is 52Frames meaningful to you?

I became interested in photography inadvertently because of Covid (long story, but short version-my son was a SR in HS for 2020/2021 and got seriously behind in school. I helped him out by taking all of the photos for his art elective (he had to edit)- and I fell in LOVE. I asked for a camera for Christmas, and the “obsession” was born! 52F has given me inspiration, a reason to pick up my camera every single week, a reason to challenge myself to learn more than I ever would otherwise. This is a community where we cheer each other on, and inspire each other. I have built several wonderful friendships through 52f , where we are now not only photography pals, but true friends. Some weeks I feel like “how long can I do this,” followed immediately with “I can’t imagine ever NOT doing this!”
