Meet Tomaž.

The thing I love most about looking at Tomaž’ work is the symmetry. Tomaž will often place the main point of interest dead center, and this is actually a really fun and powerful way to document. Where Tomaž really shines, however, is in his striking black and white shots, his own “extra extra challenge” for 2025, and I found these submissions so clean, so inspiring, that I simply had to showcase Tomaž work!

What has been your favorite style of shooting lately?

Lately, I’ve been playing around with a little home studio setup and getting into minimal black and white photography. It’s totally new territory for me, but it fits perfectly with the personal theme I set for my 52Frames project this year — everything in black and white. I hadn’t done much of it before, so it’s been fun to push myself in a different direction. I’ve also started exploring street photography, which I find super interesting. There’s just something really cool about catching those real, unplanned moments out in the world.

What was the first photo you ever submitted to 52Frames?

How did you find out about 52Frames?

One of my Instagram friends was sharing her weekly 52Frames submissions in her stories, and I really liked the idea of taking one photo each week based on a different challenge. It caught my interest, so I decided to give it a try myself.

What submission are you most proud of and why?

Week 23: Line From A Song (2024)

I’ve only been doing photography as a hobby for a few years, so I’m still learning and working to improve. I’m rarely fully proud of my work because I always see things I could’ve done better. That said, the submission I’m most proud of is from last year’s “A Line from a Song” challenge. It was titled “…I see a little silhouetto of a man” and was actually the first photo of mine to be selected for 52 Picks. Technically, it’s far from perfect, but I think it stands out for a few reasons. It fits the brief really well, it’s visually bold, and it tells a story — something I’m still learning how to do in my photography. I did some post-processing in Lightroom, but not as much as one might think. I brightened up the opening at the end of the corridor and added a heavy vignette to emphasize the silhouette. Other than that, there were just a few minor tweaks here and there.

One tip you’d like to share?

Small improvements add up to big results, so don’t get discouraged by mistakes—embrace them and learn from them. Keep experimenting, try different things, and most importantly, have fun with the process!

Why is 52Frames meaningful to you?

52Frames is exactly what I needed to take my photography to the next level. The weekly challenges give me the push to get out and shoot, even when I might not feel like it. The diverse topics introduced me to photography styles and ideas I wouldn’t have thought of on my own, which has really broadened my horizons and helped me learn a ton. But most importantly — it’s just a lot of fun!
