Become a better photographer
Week 1: Self Portrait (2026)
Featured Framer

Meet Sarah.

Sarah’s photography has a pulse to it. Her work is full of life and color, but what makes it special is the storytelling underneath. Sarah returns again and again to her most natural subject: her daughters, and through them she captures something real, something unposed and alive. This week marks Sarah’s 268th frame in the project!

Your life in 30 words or less

I’m a high school photography teacher and mother of two girls- my life is pretty much all teenagers, all the time, and I love it.

Can you share 2 images, one from your past, and one more recent, that show your evolution as a photographer?

What has been your favorite style of shooting lately?

I’ve been enjoying shooting portraits recently, both of myself and other people. I’ve been taking them so often that I decided to shoot portraits for all 52Frames this year as an extra challenge for myself. I’m having fun with it so far!

What was the first photo you ever submitted to 52Frames?

How did you find out about 52Frames?

I was searching for activities to do with my Photo Club students while we were online during Covid and it popped up.

What submission are you most proud of and why?

Week 15: Dreamscape (2023)

This is the first composite I did that really came out the way I envisioned it. I like the concept, and all the pieces came together well. The reflection was very challenging-there was definitely some cursing involved in creating it. There are photos that I learn a lot from the process of creating, and photos that I really like, but they’re rarely the same. This is one of the few that’s both.

One tip you’d like to share?

Have fun with your photography! If you have a weird idea, try it. Maybe it works and maybe it’s absolute garbage, but either way you learned something from it.

Why is 52Frames meaningful to you?

I love how much I’ve learned through 52Frames- from shooting the challenges, feedback from the community, and just by looking at all the fantastic work that gets produced every week. The creativity and skill in this group is incredible. It’s also such a supportive community- finding a group of people who are so willing to share their knowledge and help each other improve has really been a gift.
