Become a better photographer
week 1 self portrait 2025
Featured Framer

Meet Randi.

Every so often, a talent comes along that consistently stops you in your tracks. Randi is one of those rare photographers whose work makes you pause every single week. Her style is overwhelmingly beautiful –unconventional compositions, creative crops, and masterful multiple exposures. Each frame tells a different story, never repeating itself, never “phoning it in.” This week marks Randi’s 424th frame in the project!

Your life in 30 words or less

Brand new grandma, mom, wife to the best hubs… Nature lover, student of astrology and tarot. I love long city walks, beach walks and the sun. Have always loved photography and documenting the here and now in this life of impermanence.

Can you share 2 images, one from your past, and one more recent, that show your evolution as a photographer?

What has been your favorite style of shooting lately?

I’m really loving portraits and trying to include more of that in my submissions. It’s really a stretch for me to find models so I have been asking strangers and sometimes neighbors or friends. It’s sometimes frustrating having an idea that involves a model and not having that available to me. I am also trying more self portraits than I used to.

What was the first photo you ever submitted to 52Frames?

How did you find out about 52Frames?

I believe I found 52Frames while searching for a photo challenge on FB.

What submission are you most proud of and why?

I’m proud of this image because it was my 4th submission to 52Frames and it made the 52Picks album. I was pretty new at shooting and was a volunteer photographer at the women’s homeless prenatal program in San Francisco. It was an honor to photograph the pregnant women who were turning their lives around and then to have the image recognized felt special.

One tip you’d like to share?

Keep shooting and submitting! Some weeks are more inspired than others and creativity ebbs and flows. There are so many resources for image ideas, look for shots you like and make them your own.

Why is 52Frames meaningful to you?

52Frames if meaningful to me because it allows me to have a creative outlet each week. It keeps me using my camera and learning new techniques. It brings me to locations I may have never seen otherwise. It’s time for me each week. The framer community is the best!
