Meet Emiko.

What I love most about Emiko’s photography is how she captures the world around her with genuine curiosity. Big or small, every detail feels like a thoughtful discovery. Emiko gives us a beautiful and authentic glimpse into her everyday life in Japan—making each frame feel like a mini adventure. It’s always a joy to see what she’s noticed each week! This week marks Emiko’s 187th frame in the project!

I’m a weekend photographer who loves travel, books, languages, and coffee. I work in the public sector and showcase Japan through photos.

Can you share 2 images, one from your past, and one more recent, that show your evolution as a photographer?

How did you find out about 52Frames?

A few years ago, I joined a sister city exchange program (in Tulsa, USA) as one of the chaperones for a group of junior high school students. I did a homestay myself, and through my host family, I got to know about 52Frames.

Designed by architect Kengo Kuma, this station shows that beautiful architecture can be found not only in big cities like Tokyo, but also along local train lines.
I was so happy to share this and see your wonderful reactions!

One tip you’d like to share?

Taking and posting a photo each week might feel challenging at first. But once you start, you’ll find more joy in your days and notice how small moments begin to shine.
Your weekly warrior streak will become a happy milestone along a journey you truly enjoy.

Why is 52Frames meaningful to you?

I’ve loved taking photos since I was a child. At first, I took pictures to share with my family. As I grew older, photography became a way to record my travels. 52Frames has taught me the joy of adding captions to my photos and sharing them with others. I also learn so much from seeing all of your wonderful shots.
