What I love most about Emiko’s photography is how she captures the world around her with genuine curiosity. Big or small, every detail feels like a thoughtful discovery. Emiko gives us a beautiful and authentic glimpse into her everyday life in Japan—making each frame feel like a mini adventure. It’s always a joy to see what she’s noticed each week! This week marks Emiko’s 187th frame in the project!

Your life in 30 words or less
I’m a weekend photographer who loves travel, books, languages, and coffee. I work in the public sector and showcase Japan through photos.
Can you share 2 images, one from your past, and one more recent, that show your evolution as a photographer?

What has been your favorite style of shooting lately?
Lately, I’ve been drawn to photographing simple, everyday scenes that quietly catch the eye.
What was the first photo you ever submitted to 52Frames?

How did you find out about 52Frames?
A few years ago, I joined a sister city exchange program (in Tulsa, USA) as one of the chaperones for a group of junior high school students. I did a homestay myself, and through my host family, I got to know about 52Frames.
What submission are you most proud of and why?

Your photos are pretty and your words inspirational. Thank you.
Hi Emiko,
I like your photos! They convey a very natural, colorful impression of every Japan.
