Suzanne’s style quickly comes off the page and into your veins. The black and white processing (edit: shooting with film!!) that Suzanne prefers, helps to feed this energy that Suzanne’s photos give. A more visceral approach –there’s movement, story, and grit in every photo. Suzanne uses intentionally distorting techniques such as blur, optical illusion, and double exposure, wrapping the viewer in this world, in this fascinating aesthetic. This week marks Suzanne’s 212th frame!

Your life in 30 words or less
I am a mom to 5 amazing kids, and married to my best friend who has become a really excellent photographer! I have been shooting professionally for 25 years, focusing on portraits and families. I also manage a CrossFit gym, coach and personal train for the last 14 years.
Can you share 2 images, one from your past, and one more recent, that show your evolution as a photographer?

What has been your favorite style of shooting lately?
My favorite style of shooting lately is low key. I am finding incredible inspiration from Japanese photographers like Daido Moriyama and others from the Provoke era, and Italian photographer Giacomo Brunelli for their darker, high contrast, grainy work. This style has drawn me in for quite a while now.
What was the first photo you ever submitted to 52Frames?

How did you find out about 52Frames?
My friend JF and Sarah encouraged me to join!
What submission are you most proud of and why?

Inspiring. Cheers!
Nice meeting you, Suzanne. And thank you for sharing your vision.
Congratulations, your work is beautiful. I was reminded of Francesca Woodman’s incredible work.
Thank you for sharing. Your work is stunning.. I’m glad I found out more about you
