Your life in 30 words or less

FUN! Traveling, often with tent in tow. Playing with “Marty T Muse”, as my husband is known. Loving everything there is to see. And, of course, photographing all of that fun.

Can you share 2 images, one from your past, and one more recent, that show your evolution as a photographer?

What has been your favorite style of shooting lately?

I have said that my next camera will be a better phone. The reason? Simple! I’m too old to lug the “Big Girl” camera up and down trails. The new phone happened in January 2024. I have committed this year to learning ALL I can about “phone photography”. How much can I improve? What a challenge!

What was the first photo you ever submitted to 52Frames?

How did you find out about 52Frames?

An acquaintance whose photography I admire mentioned that he had joined this wonderful group. Thank you, Kevin!

What submission are you most proud of and why?

Week 4 2024 Scene From A Movie - "They Float, Georgie"
Week 4 2024 Scene From A Movie – “They Float, Georgie”

This photograph was the most FUN I have ever had with a camera!! Marty T Muse said “You have a sewer grate at the corner…all you need is a red balloon…”. I learned to make paper boats, it was raining, and people stopped to ask, comment, or simply call out “Pennywise!”. Who could ask for more fun than that?

One tip you’d like to share?

As Yosef teaches, “embrace imperfection”. Still, take every challenge seriously, but do it with fun and curiosity. There is so much learning to be done. Look at the photographs of others. Learn why a particular photograph grabbed you. The creativity of the artist? The composition? The lighting? Click on the “favorites” star, then go back to it again and again. THEN…put what is great about that image into practice in your own work.

Why is 52Frames meaningful to you?

I have “met” so many people in this group, each talented, each with something to share and teach. 52Frames has become “Photography School”. I’ve learned new techniques, both from the weekly challenges and taking a look at as many images as I can during the week.
Critiquing? Still a challenge for me, but something I would like to be more proficient at. I’ll work on that.
People. Images. Lessons. You just can’t beat that combination.
