Manuela’s submissions are like a masterclass in composition. She just doesn’t seem to… miss! From colorful, story-driven portraits, to striking landscapes, to low-key studio shots, it seems like Manuela can do it all, with ease. This week marks Manuela’s 146th frame!

Your life in 30 words or less
The main ingredients that make my life meaningful:
enjoying the beauty of nature; sharing important moments and feelings with my loved ones and staying active – physically and mentally!
Photography comprises all of the 3 factors – that’s why I love it!
Can you share 2 images, one from your past, and one more recent, that show your evolution as a photographer?
What has been your favorite style of shooting lately?
I am still experimenting with my equipment and editing tools. So I don’t have a concrete style yet. But I assume that I want my images to tell a story and evoke feelings.
Usually, I love to have a model (friends, my hubby, myself, or any other volunteer) playing an active or passive part in my pics.
I love to create some natural kind of interaction between the model and its surroundings. I am more involved and get connected to the story if I can identify myself with the person in my photo.
I don’t know if others that have a look at my photos would agree – otherwise I need to rethink my concept 😉
How did you find out about 52Frames?
A friend invited me to join her. I thought it was a great opportunity to take my camera out of the box again 🙂
What submission are you most proud of and why?
It’s definitely the album cover of week 39 (Letters) – year 2022. This photo pushed or pulled me through the week like a rollercoaster.
The setup, composition, and light in this photo are more than imperfect. But the message was seen and the response of the community was overwhelming. I felt connected with so many people.
Furthermore, the situation that led me to the idea of this pic turned out to be different than expected. I applied for a new job and felt like I completely failed at the job interview.
But on the same day when I got the message from 52F, that my pic was selected for the album cover, I got the job offer.
They told me that I strongly fulfill their requirements and they would love to have me on their team. What a week and acknowledgment of my ‘little reminder’!
One tip you’d like to share?
Try not to compare yourself too much with others. 52F is a platform that contains an overwhelming community of creative framers.
There are long-time professional photographers as well as beginners, people with a passion for different styles, who have lots of ideas, and who create amazing images.
Consider 52F as a learning platform or a possibility to grow with each challenge!
But most of all: Have fun!
Why is 52Frames meaningful to you?
52F pushes me to go out of my comfort zone and widens my creative mind. First, a challenge may evoke lots of questions and insecurity.
After reading the tips and more info on the challenge I get more comfortable and then the creative process starts.
Sometimes it’s easier, sometimes it’s more difficult. I am not always satisfied or proud of the result but in the end, I have a pic each week that tells the story.
And I am definitely proud of continuing my streak and accepting that each pic is the best I was able to come up with in that week!
What a fantastic portfolio, Manuela. I’m still very much a beginner and relative newbie on 52 Frames,
so still trying to find my own path. As I look at the range of images you are producing and read your story, it pushes me to keep trying everything! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much for the acknowledgement, Jim! I still consider myself as a rookie in the world of photography. It’s a hobby I love to spend a lot of time with and I love to share with like-minded ones.
