Prakash’s photography is a blend of storytelling, humor, and creativity. His street photos capture the observations of Indian life, while his creative low-key photos often demand a second or even third look. Prakash’s style is constantly evolving, which I believe is a testament to his humble approach to his own photography education.

Your life in 30 words or less
Retired IT professional now working freelance a few days a week. Beginner in photography, first picked up a camera in 2018. Also did video work for the first few months.
Can you share 2 images, one from your past, and one more recent, that shows your evolution as a photographer?
What has been your favorite style of shooting lately?
I am too young and uneducated to really have a style, so to say. But I think I am gravitating towards portraits – people and pets, both. Most of the images that I like belong in this category. I enjoy shooting portraits. I also find that I give more value to expressions than I give to lighting; for example, if the rim light is a bit harsh but I have captured a good, authentic expression then the photograph is valuable. But perfect lighting on a dummy is a throw away for me.
What was the first photo you ever submitted to 52Frames?
How did you find out about 52Frames?
If I remember right, one of the photography sites – diyphotography, or fstoppers, or similar – had published a list of groups that encouraged frequent shooting.
What submission are you most proud of and why?
I felt the most sense of accomplishment when I completed this challenge in Week#39 of 2020 (Tripod). I had messed up planning the shoot for the panorama, had to include one more shot out of sequence, and had to use different bits of software to produce the result.
One tip you’d like to share?
Keep shooting, I guess! It is difficult to see on a day-to-day basis how this makes a difference, but I promise you will realize the difference after a year.
Why is 52Frames meaningful to you?
It forces me to pick up my camera even though the subject may not be personally appealing. But I know that every time I pick up my camera, I will improve even though by an insignificant amount.
