To look at Dani’s photos is like a masterclass in photography. Dani’s photos are clean, consistent, a nuanced aesthetic of color and balance, and a sprinkling of powerful stories in between. Dani has just submitted her 370th frame!

What has been your favorite style of shooting lately?

I’ve always loved portraits, but lately have grown a love for landscapes as well. There are so many beautiful places on this planet.

What was the first photo you ever submitted to 52Frames?

How did you find out about 52Frames?

I saw the albums shared through a friend’s facebook back in 2014 and just fell down the rabbit hole admiring the beautiful photos each week.

What submission are you most proud of and why?

2017 Week 38: Water
2017 Week 38: Water

There are many submissions I’ve been proud of over the years. I think this one stands out to be because it was such a fun moment. I often talked about the weekly challenges with my coworkers, and Zhina (my model) was always down to help me get my shot – even if it meant wading into a public fountain with an umbrella! This shot won us the honor of 52Frames album cover that week – something I never imagined I would achieve. But beyond that, for me it represents stepping outside my comfort zone, building new friendships, and experiencing something I otherwise would not. All thanks to 52Frames.

One tip you’d like to share?

One week, one shot at a time. Not every week is a “winner” – but if you build that consistency, you will absolutely see a change in your results over time. I’m certainly not inspired by every single weekly theme, but they have pushed me to try techniques I never would have experimented with otherwise, and I’m a better photographer for it.

Why is 52Frames meaningful to you?

All the reasons stated above! I like to joke that 7+ years in, 52Frames has been my longest relationship. Participating in this challenge has taught me a lot about consistency, commitment, failure, and growth. Not every week is a great personal success. Life is busy and chaotic, but even if I’m just snapping a quick shot with my phone, participating every week means I take at least a few moments to do something creative for myself.
