Your life in 30 words or less
I am a Lithuanian currently living in New York City. I have lived in Israel in the past where I learned about 52Frames. I have travelled a lot in my life, so I can call myself I a citizen of the world. Photography is my greatest hobby, would like to be able to use it professionally.
Can you share 2 images, one from your past, and one more recent, that shows your evolution as a photographer?
What has been your favorite style of shooting lately?
I have always loved street photography. New York City is a beautiful place for street photography which I enjoy exploring. Usually I only have my phone camera with me but as I have learned during the years, the best camera is what you have on hand. Even though I am not really proud of my photography lately, I am thankful there is 52Frames in my life. As I love to travel and explore, streets are always the most interesting subject. People that you see, emotions, everything about it.
What was the first photo you ever submitted to 52Frames?
How did you find out about 52Frames?
In 2015 I was living in Israel. I saw a friend participating a year earlier and decided to join. That was one of the best decisions of my life 🙂
What submission are you most proud of and why?
This was one of the first photos that I was really proud of back when I started. It was week 11 or so and it was so planned. I was living in Tel Aviv back then and carefully planned this Sunday trip to Jerusalem to be at the Armenian church at the exact time. I knew it was going to be beautiful, I think it came out even better than I expected. It is not my best picture whatsoever and did not require any special skills but I am really really proud to this day. It also made to the exhibition which was held in Jerusalem two years later.
One tip you’d like to share?
Embrace imperfection. Neither your photographs have to be perfect nor everything else in your life. I have learned to not care if my photo was not perfect – every photo is special in some way and that is more than enough. I am now learning to apply this to other aspects of life, I believe it should make it easier.
Why is 52Frames meaningful to you?
52Frames makes me see the world through a photographers eye which is much more beautiful. During the hard times when I wanted to quit, or missed a week or two, I would always come back, because it is part of my life now. It is a ritual and life consists of rituals.
I looked at your album and I’m taken with how you tell a story week after week. It’s inspirational for me.
